A Pokémon Go referral code allows a new player or a player who has been inactive for 90 days to receive in-game rewards, and also allows the referring player to earn rewards. A new player has a maximum of 3 days to enter a referral code. To get your referral code, go to the "Friends" tab in your profile, then press "Invite".
Referral offers many benefits: mutual rewards as the referred player progresses, in-game items, experience bonuses, and automatically a friend request is sent to the referrer. The referrer will need to accept this request to unlock gifts that appear in the friends list.
